White Ketchup

For most families, especially in the Paula Dean loving south, mayonnaise is a staple. Its uses range from the ordinary turkey sandwich to the most delicious vegall casseroles, and most people love the stuff. This is not the case in my house.
As a kid, my mother religiously made my lunch. Said lunch consisted of the standard luncheon meat sandwich, on which my mother slathered mayonnaise.  This would probably been ok if I'd eaten the sandwich right away. However, this was not the case. That sandwich stayed in my bag until it was ripe. I recall several times I tossed my sandwich because the Mayo had made it to the clear/ oily phase.  I voiced my concerns with my mom, and she stopped torturing me with the slimmy white stuff.
My dear husband, completely unknown to me at the time, was waging a similar Mayo battle at home. However, as the stories have been related to me, he did not get the same treatment and had to endure.
This leads us to our current state. We don't "keep" mayonnaise in our house. I buy it once a year for tomato sandwiches and use a tiny bit in chicken salad. We prefer mustard on our sandwiches and have served our daughter plain sammies.
All of this is simply preface to what Olivia said today...
When asked "what did you have for lunch today? " she answered "mixed veggies, peaches and a Ham and cheese sandwich with white ketchup "
I realized she doesn't know what mayonnaise is.
